However, millions of people around the world shared the news on social media. In fact, Sony’s simple Instagram post can count on over 4 million likes and the Japanese giant didn’t even have a console to show.
At the time of writing, the official PlayStation Instagram account can boast 4.924 million likes on its PS5 logo while the Xbox Series X announcement trailer debuted at The Game Awards 2019 with 1.8 million views. A separate post, released on the same day and revealing the console name, counted 990,000 likes a month later.
It’s worth noting that PlayStation also has more than double the amount of followers on Instagram compared to Xbox, but this is clearly evidence that Sony’s fan base is eager for more information.
If PlayStation can attract so much attention only with a logo (among other things quite simple), fans will probably go wild at the official reveal.
